In celebration of LGBT Pride and Immigrant Heritage Month, we invited Immigrants Rising’s former Legal Services Coordinator and a long-time community member Tommy for a conversation about the intersection between LGBT and being undocumented, specifically in the experiences of undocuTrans folks.
We have been awarded a California Social Entrepreneurs for Economic Development Grant (“SEED Grant”) of $5.41 million, to provide microgrants and technical assistance to immigrant entrepreneurs across California. Read our Press Release here.
Students who meet the California SB 68/AB 540 eligibility will be able to pay in-state tuition (avoiding out-of-state fees) and apply for financial aid through the California Dream Act application. Use this worksheet to determine your eligibility for in-state tuition in California by tracking the requirements and monitoring your progress, all in one central location.
With the generous support of the Stupski Foundation (and help of Marnie the cat), Immigrants Rising is currently providing cash assistance and legal screening to more than 120 immigrant high school students in Alameda County and San Francisco through its Immigration Legal Intake Service (ILIS). ILIS is a free and confidential service that communicates directly with those who complete the intake form.
Founded in 2006, Immigrants Rising transforms individuals and fuels broader changes. With resources and support, undocumented young people are able to get an education, pursue careers, and build a brighter future for themselves and their community.
