Voices in the Fight: 25th Anniversary Profile Series

John,

Meet Lisa Lu.

Lisa received a 2020 Youth Advocate of the Year award for her work supporting the global fight against youth tobacco use. In 2016, she founded International Youth Tobacco Control (IYTC), a nonprofit organization comprised of 200 middle and high school students in the U.S., Canada, China, Korea, Japan, Pakistan, the Philippines and Saudi Arabia. In addition, Lisa played a key role in advocating for a new law prohibiting the sale of flavored tobacco products in Los Angeles County. Whether testifying at hearings, meeting with policymakers or speaking at press conferences, Lisa’s ability to effectively communicate the urgency of protecting kids from tobacco is a force for change.

“My voice matters, but my age doesn’t.”

As part of our year-long 25th anniversary celebration, our Voices in the Fight profile series showcases the incredible power of advocates we've worked with over the years. Look out for a new profile every other Wednesday through May 2022.
