Friends - Tonight at midnight we reach the Federal Election Commission's end-of-quarter fundraising deadline, and I’m sure by now you’ve already received more than your fair share of emails from elected officials and candidates for office all across the country asking for your support. These deadlines are important, no doubt about it. But I wanted to take the opportunity today to ask for something a little different: I’m asking for your support, yes, but not for our campaign. Instead, I’m asking for your contribution to Fair Fight, an incredible organization on the front lines to save our democracy and protect voting rights across the nation. What do you say, friend? Fair Fight was founded in 2018 by Stacey Abrams to combat voter suppression on all fronts, especially in battleground and soon-to-be battleground states like Georgia and Texas. While voting rights have been under constant attack by Republican officials in state legislatures across the country, Fair Fight has led the charge to protect voting rights on the ground. Fair Fight has been running registration drives and organizing communities across the country — just as they did in 2020 to help beat the former president. But we’ll need their expertise again in 2022, 2024, and beyond if we’re going to succeed in building the progressive movement we need to win. That’s why I’m asking today: Making it harder to vote anywhere in the country weakens our democracy everywhere. And the fight to save our democracy is far from over, which is why I support Fair Fight in their mission. I hope you will, too. Thank you in advance for supporting this important organization. - Peter Welch
