Click here to find your local #ImpeachNow rally. Dear Friend, Speaker Nancy Pelosi drew a bright line in the sand when she announced a formal impeachment inquiry into Donald Trump. But when it comes to following through with impeaching Trump, all eyes are on us. If we don't come together with a deafening, impossible-to-ignore call to remove Trump from office, Republicans and corporate Democrats will claim the public is on their side and refuse to impeach. The Women's March and By the People are bringing Americans together for #ImpeachNow rallies this Sunday, October 13 -- and we need everyone who cares about our democracy to join in. Trump's quid-pro-quo request of Ukraine to investigate his political rival is the very definition of “high crimes and misdemeanors” envisioned by the Constitution. It's treasonous. It's an abuse of power of the highest order.(1) Trump and his administration have been wielding the executive branch to undermine our democracy, pit Americans against each other, and enrich and empower themselves. Trump has used his office for his own profit by currying favor from foreign powers. He's ramped up an illegal war in Yemen. He's separated children from their families and put them in cages. And after nearly three years of chaos in the White House, politicians are finally coming out against Trump. More than half of the House of Representatives supports an impeachment inquiry, and for the first time, 58% of Americans do as well.(2) But with Mitch McConnell pushing back in the Senate, and Democrats in swing districts looking for political cover, impeachment itself is far from a sure thing unless we have a massive show of support. Trump is counting on his never-ending news cycle to take his crimes out of the media's spotlight, causing Rep. Pelosi to lose momentum. He's counting on progressives to be too exhausted by his barrage of attacks on our democracy to stand up against him. We're going to prove Trump wrong, by coming together for the #ImpeachNow rallies this weekend to let Congress know we will not stand by and let him destroy our nation. Find your local #ImpeachNow rally and commit to calling on Congress to do their duty and stop Trump.
