There is an ongoing humanitarian crisis at our southern border, but Biden is negligent in enforcing the laws and upholding his duty under Article II, Section 3 of the Constitution to “take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed.” Instead of trying to fix things, the Biden regime has actively made the situation worse by terminating the remain in Mexico policy and implementing measures that incentivize illegal immigration such as amnesty and catch and release. President Biden has facilitated this crisis by not enforcing the Immigration and Nationality Act, which requires the President to detain illegal aliens and enforce border security measures.
The numbers don’t lie—the situation at the border is a crisis. Since Biden took office, at the border: - Arrests for drug smuggling increased 266%
- Arrests for murder increased 1233%
- Arrests for sexual offenses increased 207%
After months of inaction, Biden’s border czar, Kamala Harris, has finally found it in her to do the bare minimum and go near the border to see what her administration has done. My hope is that by actually meeting with and hearing from the Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) agents who put their lives on the line each and every day she would recognize the severity of the crisis she created and not laugh it off.

Western states have been hit hard by wildfires and droughts, and I continue to closely monitor the situation across our District. I discussed the five large fires burning in our District with U.S. Forest Service Chief Vicki Christiansen, and I have been in contact with state and local agencies, stakeholders, and first responders to ensure the proper resources are being deployed.
As a proud member of the Committee on Natural Resources, I see firsthand the urgent need for better active forest management to prevent devastating wildfires and improve the health of our forests. My bipartisan amendment to implement active forest management to protect infrastructure passed unanimously through committee, and I look forward to continuing to lead on this issue by introducing a comprehensive active forest management bill in the coming days.
I ran with the promise that the forgotten men and women of rural Colorado would be forgotten no more, and I fight every single day for the people who hired me to be their voice. - I questioned Interior Secretary Deb Haaland on ways we can partner to move forward water storage projects and to ensure Coloradans are capturing more water to which we are entitled and made a strong case for keeping the Bureau of Land Management headquarters in Grand Junction.
- I secured a commitment from USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack to look into allowing farmers to receive insurance claims for crops lost to drought.
- Finally, I made the case to Vice Admiral Ronald Boxall for keeping the U.S. Space Command in Colorado.
I have put Colorado first from the day I took my oath, and that won’t ever change. |

On Wednesday evening, I hosted a telephone town hall where constituents raised important questions about issues that matter most to them. I was honored to be joined by former Acting Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection Mark Morgan to discuss the situation at the southern border and how it impacts rural Colorado communities.

I joined 126 other Members of Congress in sending a letter opposing the Biden administration's intentions to revert the definition of “waters of the United States” (WOTUS) to the Obama-era rules targeting farmers, ranchers, homeowners, private property owners, manufacturers, small businesses, water districts, and local governments.
It’s no surprise that Joe Biden’s EPA is trying to expand the federal government’s jurisdiction and regulate every aspect of our lives. It’s sad to see that radical enviro policies have already overtaken the executive branch and that Biden is sparing no time restoring the damaging 2015 WOTUS rule, threatening property rights and water rights for communities across the nation. Rural Colorado runs on water rights, and Biden’s unconstitutional WOTUS regulation will harm our way of life. |
I will always stand up for the sanctity of human life, which begins at conception. Taxpayer money should never be used to murder unborn children, which is why I was appalled by President Biden’s budget plan that didn’t include Hyde amendment protections. The Democrats have been fully taken over by the radical left, and even common-sense historically bipartisan policies like the Hyde amendment aren’t safe.
