John—Events are happening coast to coast for another week to
demand senators protect our voting rights using every tool in their
toolbox. If the Senate doesn't act before the end of summer, there may not
be enough time to protect the 2022 election. We need to be in the streets
demanding action now, before it's too late.

Dear MoveOn member,

Our democracy remains under attack, and we're running out of time. [ [link removed] ]Join
a Deadline for Democracy event near you now to demand our senators pass
the For the People Act.

Republicans lost the last election and lashed out in response, embracing
lies to continue escalating their attacks on our democracy. Since then,
we've seen almost 400 bills introduced in 48 statehouses across the
country intended to limit our right to vote.^1 Right after the GOP
filibustered the For the People Act, Texas announced a special legislative
session specifically to pass more attacks intended to make it harder for
Black and brown people to vote.^2

The work is just gearing up. Democrats are united, but they need to act
with urgency and use every tool they have to defeat the Republicans
abusing the Jim Crow filibuster. The minority must not be able to block
bills with wide bipartisan support across the country.

Senators are home for two weeks so they can speak directly with
constituents like you. [ [link removed] ]RSVP now to your local Deadline for Democracy
event to say the time is now to protect our voting rights and our
democracy.

The For the People Act, known as H.R.1 in the House and S.1 in the Senate,
is a bold step toward reducing the racial and economic inequalities in our
political system. It would strengthen our democracy by expanding voting
rights, reducing the influence of big money in politics, taking on
corruption, and setting minimum standards that would make many of the
voter suppression bills currently being proposed illegal.^3

Whatever our race, background, or ZIP code, everyone should have their
vote counted. Our democracy works only if everyone has a voice.

Don't let Republicans continue to rig the rules in their favor. [ [link removed] ]RSVP
now to a Deadline for Democracy event to demand the Senate use every tool
they have to defend our freedom to vote.

Thanks for all you do.
