2021 is on track to be the worst year in a decade for legislation dismantling abortion access — with more than 550 restrictions, including 165 bans, introduced across the country.

Let's be clear: The reason lawmakers are introducing hundreds of restrictions at the state level is to get the Supreme Court to hear a direct challenge to Roe v. Wade. They got their wish: the court has taken up its first abortion case since Donald Trump appointed three Supreme Court justices with anti-abortion track records.

And if Roe is overturned or weakened as a result of this case, up to 26 states could quickly move to ban abortion.
