There's no question that last week's Senate vote on whether to advance voting rights legislation was significant. That vote showed that Senate Republicans are more concerned with retaining power than with protecting our most fundamental freedom, the right to vote.



The fight clearly doesn't end here. There is much work still to be done. We have no other choice but to give everything we have. Democracy is on the line. As a loyal supporter of our work, you should know what our next steps will be in this fight. First, we will continue to work on the federal level to support legislation that protects voting rights and ends partisan gerrymandering in congressional elections. We can get it done.



Simultaneously, we will be carrying out our state-by-state plan to prevent gerrymandering during 2021 redistricting all acrossthe country. The Census Bureau will be releasing its data soon so we're gearing up to execute our multi-pronged strategy of engaging the public, analyzing proposed maps, supporting plaintiffs in lawsuits where necessary, and holding lawmakers politically accountable.

Let's not forget what all of these fights are about. We're working to create a government truly accountable to the people so that we can make the needed progress that the people want -- on health care, on climate change, on gun safety, on criminal justice reform, on reproductive rights. This is not a time for quiet pessimism. This must be a time for robust action. People like you made success possible in 2020. We can, and must, do it again.
