John,

When I was born, Georgia’s Senators were Richard Russell and Herman Talmadge. Both were proud enemies of the civil rights movement.

Talmadge’s father, the former governor of Georgia, once said he and his supporters could keep Black people away from the polls by using “pistols .”

Now, a Black kid who grew up in public housing holds the United States Senate seat that once belonged to Herman Talmadge.

A lot has changed, but voter suppression still exists.

Right now, we are in the midst of a massive assault on voting rights against Black and brown voters in Georgia. To put it plainly, this is Jim Crow in new clothes.

We’ve got to stop them. I’m asking you to donate to the Democratic Party of Georgia’s voter protection program, so they can keep fighting voter suppression.
