Nothing is more fundamental to our democracy than the right to vote. It's the right that all other rights stem from, and it must be protected at all costs.

Andy gets this. And as Kentucky's attorney general, he's taken action to protect and expand voting rights. He's fought to make sure Kentuckians have access to the ballot box and launched a special unit dedicated to making sure nobody is illegally stopped from casting their vote.

But that was just a first step. Andy believes that our democracy is strongest when more Kentuckians are involved in the process. Right now Kentucky ranks 35th out of the 50 states and the District of Columbia in voter turnout, so there's a lot of room for improvement -- especially before next month's elections..

That's why Andy supports policies like automatic voter registration and making it easier to cast an absentee ballot -- policies which have been successfully adopted by other states. He also believes that Kentuckians with a non-violent felony who have completed their sentences should automatically have their voting rights restored.
