John,
President Biden is fighting for a tax plan that makes the rich and corporations pay their fair share―to invest in a future that includes all of us. And now, a key vote in the U.S. Senate has voiced support.
Over the weekend, Sen. Joe Manchin said that he’d be willing to “make adjustments” to a rigged tax code without any Republican votes.[1] And that he’d even consider critical investments being proposed by the White House if “we’re able to pay for” them.[2]
We need every single Democratic vote in the Senate in order to pass President Biden’s jobs and investment plans―paid for by making the rich and corporations pay their fair share. Can you pitch in $5 to apply critical pressure to key Democratic senators now?
Check out Frank’s email below for more details on Sen. Joe Manchin’s position on President Biden’s jobs and investment plans and how we’re one step closer to making them a reality.
Thank you,

John,
We always knew that getting even a single Republican vote to undo some of the worst aspects of the Trump-GOP tax scam was a long shot. The question has really been, can we get 50 Democratic Senators on board?
Over the weekend, we began to get an answer.
Senator Joe Manchin appeared on ABC’s Sunday show, This Week, saying:[1]
“If Republicans don’t want to make adjustments to a tax code which I think is weighted and unfair, then I’m willing to go to reconciliation.”
This is a big development. Reconciliation is a process that will enable Democrats to pass a jobs and fair-share taxes package in the U.S. Senate with just 51 votes―avoiding a filibuster that Republicans would surely wage.
We can invest in everything from jobs and infrastructure to housing, education, healthcare, the environment, and a care economy―when the rich and corporations start paying their fair share. And that’s exactly what Democrats in the House and Senate are negotiating right now.
We’re gonna need every single Democratic vote to get it done!
Can you donate today to apply critical pressure to key Democratic senators to pass a robust reconciliation package that includes President Biden’s tax policies―stopping wealthy tax cheats, demanding the rich and corporations pay their fair share, and ensuring no one making under $400,000 pays a nickel more in taxes?

Senator Manchin also indicated that he’s open to the investments being proposed by the president and Democrats in Congress, saying:[2]
“There's a lot of need out there, whether it be child tax credits, whether it be helping those kids have a start in life, whether it be fixing a lot of the human infrastructure that has fallen by the wayside, of helping middle-class, hard-working people have a chance to get ahead and enjoy the American dream. I'm all for that. To what degree, we'll see what we're able to pay for.”
The answer is, we can pay for a lot!
President Biden has proposed raising nearly $4 trillion in revenue by raising corporate tax rates to 28%, closing loopholes that encourage the outsourcing of jobs and shifting of profits to tax havens, ending tax breaks for fossil fuel producers, helping the IRS audit the wealthy and corporate tax dodgers, and raising capital gains tax rates, which primarily impact the richest 1%.[3]
Donate to Americans for Tax Fairness Action Fund today to fight for President Biden’s tax plans―to pay for a future that includes all of us, not just the wealthy few.
We are on the verge of a once-in-a-generation package that invests in our future. Thank you for being by our side.
