Democrats had 50 votes to defend democracy. But Republicans still blocked debate on the For the People Act.
The For the People Act, S. 1 would set up automatic voter registration, expand early voting, require more transparency in political donations, and limit partisan gerrymandering.
The arcane filibuster is attacking the very fundamentals of our democracy.
We must abolish the filibuster to protect and expand voting rights, act swiftly on climate change, pass a livable $15 minimum wage, and gain equal rights for our LGBTQ+ community.
Democrats can stop voter suppression by Republican-led state legislatures. All they need to do is abolish the filibuster and pass the For the People Act, S. 1 now.
