Friend,
My sister, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, needs our help.
She just received news that Republicans in her district have raised $1 million to try and defeat her next fall, and that she has a Democratic primary opponent: a corporate Democratic city councilman.
They’re scared that she’s changing the game and shaking up the status quo.
Corporate Democrats and Republicans won’t shy away from taking corporate PAC money or pandering to corporate giants like Amazon. Alexandria’s primary opponent even said: “Why not have Amazon high schools to prepare our kids for jobs?!”
Schools run by Amazon founder, billionaire Jeff Bezos? No thank you! What we need is bold, visionary leaders. People like AOC who actually represent the people’s voices, not greedy corporations.
Pitch in right now to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s re-election campaign (and mine) and make sure that her strong, progressive voice remains in Congress.
Together, Alexandria and I have worked on critical legislation for low- and no-income families. She’s co-sponsored my BOOST Act, which has been called the closest bill in Congress to universal basic income. She’s also co-sponsored my bill taking on the auto insurance industry by prohibiting discriminatory use of credit scores to determine insurance rates. She came out early with me for impeachment, and she’s had my back when it’s gotten tough.
Alexandria’s introduced the Green New Deal, a visionary policy proposal which is critical to addressing the climate crisis and investing in a clean, renewable energy future. We need her bold, systemic approach to change in Congress now more than ever.
Donate right now to support our people-powered re-election campaigns—and fight back against the corporate Democrats and Republicans trying to silence us.
Together, it’s up to us to elect even more working people into Congress to ensure our voices are heard. And that starts by defending my sisters in #TheSquad―strong, progressive women of color who are fighting for us every day.
Always serving you,
Rashida
