** First-of-its-kind global analysis of climate risks to cotton production
------------------------------------------------------------

Cotton is the world’s most widely produced natural fibre, yet by 2040, half of the world’s cotton growing regions could face drastic exposure to climate risks if emissions continue to soar. Even with rapid emissions reduction, we must act now for climate adaptation and resilience, with climate justice at the centre.

In partnership with Acclimatise, two analyses were undertaken as part of the Cotton 2040 initiative’s Planning for Climate Adaptation workstream: The world’s first Global Analysis of Climate Risks to cotton-growing regions, and a detailed Climate Risk and Vulnerability Assessment of cotton-growing regions in India.

We also have an upcoming online event this 14 July ([link removed]) , where we will explore with producers and industry actors what these findings mean for their organisations, and what’s needed to respond to the challenge.
