John, we did it. We just hit our $195,000 end-of-quarter goal with one day to spare!
We are now in a great position to forge ahead on the important work of electing more progressive champions at every level of government and pushing Democrats to deliver on the transformational change they promised working people. More than that, you’re helping us send a powerful message that we can build a political party that respects its members and supporters and doesn’t need to resort to deceptive email tactics.
But we can’t stop now — not with so much on the line. Will you help us hit our new $200,000 stretch goal before midnight tomorrow with a contribution of $3 or more? Every dollar helps us build a stronger movement to push for transformative change and elect more WFP-endorsed candidates up and down the ballot in the months to come.
Thank you for everything,
Team WFP

Subject: We'll never send you an "all hope is lost" email
John,
Over the weekend, The New York Times published a bombshell report1 on how older Americans are being targeted by deceptive email fundraising tactics — tactics deployed by both Republican and Democratic groups:
Digital operatives in both parties deploy an array of manipulative tactics that can deceive donors of all age groups: faux bill notices and official-looking correspondence; bogus offers to match donations and hidden links to unsubscribe; and prechecked boxes that automatically repeat donations, which are widely seen as the most egregious scheme.
But some groups appear to specifically target older internet users, blasting out messages with subject lines like “Social Security” that have particular resonance for older people, and spending disproportionately on ads for an older audience.
We know that many campaigns and political organizations think that tactics like these are the only way to raise money. But let us be very clear: The Working Families Party will never trick you into donating. We don’t believe in fake triple-matches, "all hope is lost" subject lines, or scaring you or your family members with "final notice" emails.
Some organizations think that running an ethical fundraising program that doesn’t accept money from corporate donors is harder. But time and time again, you’re proving that we can build a political party based on mutual respect for our donors, our members, and our voters. And together, we’re on the verge of proving it once again.
We’re so close to hitting our $195,000 end-of-quarter goal at midnight on Wednesday. This is a real goal and whether we hit our goals or not has a real impact on our success. Will you help us cross the finish line by contributing $3 or more to ensure WFP has the resources to elect more progressive leaders and continue holding Democrats accountable for what they promised the American people?
