I’ve made this pledge because, like you, I want my voice and my values to be represented in Washington -- and because conservative, establishment Jewish groups don’t speak for me when it comes to the Israeli-Palestinian debate.

As a former diplomat who spent 30 years with the State Department and another 17 years with the International Crisis Group, I’ve had a front-row seat to the forces and political debates that shape American diplomatic leadership -- for better and for worse.
I’ve seen first-hand how important it is to have strong groups like J Street advocating for principled, values-driven leadership (and pushing back against corrosive, hawkish groups on the right).
I’ve seen the difference it makes when our leaders know they have the political support to make impactful, principled decisions -- and I’ve seen the consequences when they take the easy way out instead.
