Hi John,
I’ve got some
amazing news -- some of the folks we’ve met on this podcast won their elections in New York last week. We’re looking at you, (likely) Buffalo mayor-elect India Walton! And we’re rooting for NYC Council candidates Amanda Farias and Chi Ossé, who are still waiting on absentee ballots and ranked-choice calculations!
While you celebrate their victories, here’s something to listen in on -- this week’s podcast guest is
Seattle mayoral candidate Andrew Grant Houston.
Andrew, aka Ace, moved to Seattle to work as an architect and fell in love with the city while fighting for housing justice. And he’s quickly gaining traction in his race --
he was the first candidate in the race to hit campaign finance limits, and he’s making an enormous impact by forcing debate on issues like homelessness, climate change, and police funding.
As a queer, Black, Latinx architect, Ace knows he’s an unexpected choice for mayor -- which makes him the perfect person to transform Seattle for the better.
