2021 might be an “off year” in federal elections, but there’s a critical race for governor in Virginia that needs your attention.

Terry McAuliffe, our Democratic nominee and a former Virginia governor, is going up against a Trump-endorsed, multi-millionaire conservative who’s already spending $2 million on radio and TV to boost his profile — even though the election is still four months away.

Terry’s opponent has pledged to spend $75 million overall, including millions of his own money, to win this race. This is unprecedented, John, and Terry needs our help to take on his opponent and the Republican big-money machine.

At the end of this month, Terry’s campaign has to file an official end-of-quarter fundraising report — that means everyone will be able to see what they’ve raised so far and if they’ll have the funds to compete in the most expensive gubernatorial election Virginia has ever seen.

This is make or break. I’m asking personally if you will join me in supporting Terry’s campaign by splitting a contribution between Team Cooper and Team McAuliffe before his critical end-of-quarter deadline.

Democrats simply can’t afford to lose this race — and it’s not just about Virginia. If Terry’s opponent wins, that’s a signal to the rest of the country that Trumpism wins, even when Donald Trump isn’t on the ballot.

Issues like voting rights, health care, and the environment are no less pressing now than they were when Joe Biden and Kamala Harris won the White House and when North Carolinians chose to re-elect our administration. And we have to make sure Virginia’s voters understand that.
