** A day to fight for ALL birds
------------------------------------------------------------
Hello John,

Today is World Migratory Bird Day ([link removed]) . A day to celebrate the incredible birds that undertake vast journeys and promote work to protect them.

When I heard about the day, I instantly thought of the birds I'd seen when I went undercover at bird of prey zoos across the UK. ([link removed]) And the horrific tragedy that so few would ever get to fly as they naturally would in the wild.

I saw so many individual birds who in the wild would travel great distances to find mates, to build nests and more. Yet in captivity, they barely got to fly for minutes at a time in displays for the public.

So this year, Freedom for Animals are using World Migratory Bird Day to focus on the cruelty of keeping birds captive and denying them flight:

TAKE ACTION FOR BIRDS ([link removed])
It is not just exercise birds gain from flying, it is stimulation, freedom and wisdom. Denying this from such an animal is cruel and unnecessary.

Some birds will migrate short distances, some long. Whatever the distance this is an instinct and a right that too many birds are being denied when kept in captivity.

So please take action today, on this day that celebrates bird freedom, which so many are denied.

For the animals,

P.S. Birds in zoos across the UK are being denied the chance to fly - one of the most fundamentals behaviours to a bird. Please join me and others this World Migratory Bird Day, by taking action to help free birds. ([link removed]) Thank you.
