John,
Happy Pride Month! As we wrap up this month, When We All Vote is using our platform to shine a light on some of the strong leaders and organizers in our community who work tirelessly every day to fight for LGBTQIA+ rights and pave the way for a more equitable future.
Here are some of the people pushing for progress in our When We All Vote family:
This month, we're celebrating Toni Watkins whose work at the New Georgia Project supports reproductive justice and boosts civic engagement. Toni is an amazing LGBTQIA+ leader in our community: "My identity has impacted my leadership by forcing me to be more courageous. Being the one part of my identity I could hide, but not choose not to, enables me to stand proudly in my truth and be a beacon for those that do not share the privilege of leading out loud." Toni's work goes hand in hand with our efforts here at When We All Vote and we are so proud to have her in this movement!
We are excited to celebrate Michelle Wright, a strong LGBTQIA+ advocate and organizer in our community! Michelle's work centers on harm reduction and fighting against racialized drug policies: "I'm an organizer. In this capacity, my role is to demystify the political process and to empower folks active on the front lines; to ensure that there is representation from voices that have always minimized, (Black trans femmes/gnc folks to the front please); to interrupt hate and to find resources that can help us to sustain the work." Michelle's work is crucial to creating a safer and more equitable world and we are so grateful to have Michelle in our When We All Vote family!
