[1]Cori Bush
It’s past time we transform public safety,
John.
That’s why today Cori introduced her latest piece of legislation — the
People’s Response Act.
When Black people need help, calling 911 too often becomes a death
sentence. Through Cori’s bill, the People’s Response Act, we’re making
public safety a public health issue. This bill will make massive
investments in our communities through grant programs for community-led,
health-based investments in public safety.
That means supporting the grassroots organizations on the ground already
doing the work of keeping us safe. That means funding a federal, unarmed,
trained health responders unit to respond to mental and behavioral health
crises. Not only that — we’re going to fund alternatives to police in
cities and towns across the country so that every community can have the
right responder when they’re in need of help.
We know that passing the People’s Response Act is key to transforming the
future of public safety. [ [link removed] ]Can you make a $5 donation to

A better way forward is possible — where a new generation of first
responders will serve to protect our communities and provide care for all.
As the first person from the movement fighting for Black lives to serve in
Congress, Cori is committed to leading the fight to stop state-sanctioned
murder on the House floor. She’s been unapologetic calling out the forces
of white supremacy in our police systems, legislating in defense of Black
lives, and prioritizing investments in programs that lift all of us up.
