Last week, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds signed troubling new laws to criminalize peaceful protest, chill freedom of speech, and cut taxes for wealthy donors.

We all agree that Iowans need safe streets and more money in their pockets, but this legislation only moves us even further away from those common goals.

Governor Reynolds has continued to divide Iowans by signing bills into law that will undermine Iowans’ First Amendment rights and weaken public safety by increasing penalties for protests and expanding police immunity. In contrast, last year Ras led the way in passing the Plan for a More Perfect Union unanimously, which bans chokeholds and increases accountability to ensure that a murder like that of George Floyd doesn't happen in Iowa.

Plus, Governor Reynolds signed another bill to let rich donors and big corporations make off like bandits at the expense of our state’s budget, local public safety services, and schools.

While Governor Reynolds is signing bills that will hurt instead of help Iowans, Ras is running to do the exact opposite. Hardworking Iowans are tired of being left out in the cold and disregarded by the extreme agenda of this administration. Ras is running for governor to return the power to the people of Iowa.

With our very first end-of-quarter fundraising deadline approaching in two days, will you chip in $10 or more to support Ras and make it clear that Iowans are ready for real representation in the governor’s office?

Thanks for having Ras’s back ahead of this crucial deadline.
