For decades, scientists told us that carbon emissions were heating Earth's atmosphere. They warned that if we didn't take action, the results would be catastrophic.

We know how that turned out. Republicans, abetted by Big Oil, didn't just drag their feet -- they denied science, they delayed action, they put corporate donors ahead of all of us.

Now, in 2021, those decades-old predictions are coming true. We saw the wildfires last summer. The floods throughout the South. And now, droughts and heat waves threaten states across the country. In fact, in Washington state this week, we're experiencing a heat wave so severe that our temperatures (over 100 degrees Fahrenheit) could break all-time record highs.

You know where I stand: We need bold climate action to reverse decades of bad policy. But talk isn't nearly enough. So here in Washington state, we're taking the lead and passing historic laws (more on that in a bit). But there's more work to do, and our ability to make progress is only as strong as the political power behind us.

So today, I'm humbly asking: Will you make a contribution of $HPD before our official end-of-month deadline, so we can keep showing the world what bold climate action looks like?

Just this year, thanks to your support, we've made big strides in reducing emissions here in Washington state:

* We passed a new Clean Fuel Standard to reduce emissions and create more jobs in clean energy.
* We created a cap-and-invest program that limits and reduces greenhouse gas emissions across our economy.
* And we enacted one of the strongest environmental justice policies in the nation, giving members of frontline communities a voice in policy design and investment decisions.

But we can't solve the climate crisis alone, and the crisis is growing. Already, tens of millions of Americans have seen temperatures soar above 100 degrees Fahrenheit -- and this isn't typically the hottest part of the year.

Every dollar we raise now will fuel our work as we continue to raise the standard for bold climate action -- and show elected leaders across the country that Americans support it. Will you make a donation right now, before our June 30 deadline, to keep this movement going?
