As Mercy Corps’ Senior Vice President of Programs, I have seen firsthand
the disastrous impact of climate change on people living in our world’s
most fragile places.
With your help, we’re partnering with communities facing the starkest
effects of climate change, connecting them to information and tools to
protect themselves, overcome challenges, and thrive in the changing
environment.
As our fiscal year comes to an end, we’ve set an
important goal: to welcome 100 new monthly givers by our deadline at

efforts to help communities facing the effects of climate change, poverty,
hunger, natural disasters, the impacts of COVID-19, and so much more.
Here are just a few ways Mercy Corps supporters like you are helping to
build long-term solutions to help people thrive in the changing
environment:
In Nepal, we’re helping farmers plant sugarcane on riverbanks,
which helps to prevent soil erosion and flooding, while also [ Nepal ]Nepal
increasing their crop yields and income.
Through a Mercy Corps program in Jordan, Tareq purchased a new
[ Jordan ]Jordan irrigation system and other equipment to optimize water use in
his fruit orchards.
In Mali, we’re supporting gardening groups with seed supplies,
training on crop diversification, and new techniques such as [ Mali ]Mali
organic manure composting.
We are on the ground in more than 40 countries, collaborating with local
partners and listening to their priorities to help solve their biggest
challenges. I am so proud of our teams — their sacrifices, their
creativity, and their commitment to improving their communities. And I am
grateful every day that our community of humanitarians helps make these
efforts possible.
