John,

Over the weekend civil and voting rights groups led the first-ever
national rally for D.C. statehood.

This rally followed up a newsworthy hearing on the issue last week from
the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs.

With progressive groups rallying around legislation that would make D.C.
the 51st state and it moving into a Senate committee hearing for only the
second time in history, we have to capitalize on this momentum.

pass the Washington, D.C. Admission Act.

In 2019 the House of Representatives held its first hearing on D.C.
statehood in over two decades.

Now just two years later, they passed H.R.51 the Washington, D.C.
Admission Act, a huge step forward for the Black and Brown D.C. residents
that have always been the target of this disenfranchisement.

D.C. Statehood already passed the House and historic discussions are
taking place in Senate committee hearings. There is a real opportunity to
push Senate Democrats to pass this landmark legislation.

they have ever been. Join DFA as we fight to expand democratic rights to
700,000 D.C. residents.
