Peggy Shepard Featured as a "Gutsy Woman"
Peggy Shepard is one of the “gutsy women” featured in The Book of Gutsy Women ([link removed]) , a new book by Hillary Rodham Clinton and her daughter, Chelsea. The Clintons share stories of gutsy women who have inspired them over the years – women with the courage to stand up to the status quo, ask hard questions, and work for positive change. Peggy is one of those women, and in the book she is paired with urban activist Jane Jacobs, which is interesting because Peggy also happens to be the recipient of the Jane Jacobs Medal from the Rockefeller Foundation for Lifetime Achievement.

NY State Period Products Act Signed Into Law

Cuomo signed the Period Products Labeling Act into law today, legislation that requires manufacturers selling period products in the state to clearly disclose their ingredients on the package labeling. WE ACT for Environmental Justice – in partnership with Clean and Healthy New York, the JustGreen Partnership, and Women’s Voices for the Earth – was instrumental in generating interest and support for this legislation, which was sponsored by Senator Roxanne J. Persaud (D-Brooklyn) in the Senate and by Assemblymember Linda B. Rosenthal (D-Manhattan) in the Assembly. Learn More ([link removed])
