As a proud feminist and activist who has spent my entire career working to advance the rights of women, I know a champion of equality when I see one. I can say with confidence that Carolyn Maloney is a champion for equality.
Carolyn has never been afraid to voice her opinion and make a difference. When she was a staffer in the New York State Legislature and an expectant mother, she was told to apply for disability instead of being offered any type of maternity leave. From that moment on, Carolyn has championed maternity and family leave, starting first at the state level, and then in Congress at the Federal level so all Americans get these important benefits.
And today, with the Equal Rights Amendment finally passed by the 38 states required to become law, we need her wisdom and political skill to take us over the finish line.
