In a minute I'm going to ask you - once again - to pitch in a donation before Election Day. But first, I want to stress the consequences of missing our fundraising goals this late in the campaign.

National Republicans and their special interest donors have zeroed in on our election. They don't care about all the progress we've made here in Louisiana, so long as they can flip our state red.

In the final days of the campaign, they're doing whatever they can to defeat me. They're flying in the biggest names of the party ­- people who aren't even familiar with this state, it's people, or its issues. It appears that my opponents aren't confident enough to make their case on their own, so they're looking to Washington, D.C., for help.

With the national Republican party focused on Louisiana, it's pivotal that we have the resources to fight back. We've set an emergency goal to raise $20,000 by midnight tonight, but - with just hours to go - we're still $8,052 behind.

Falling behind with the election so close puts us at risk of losing. With out-of-state groups attacking us at every angle, we can't let up. We've got to give it our all until we cross the finish line. That's why I'm reaching out to you now - and it's why I'm counting on you.
