Hey Friend.  My name is Natasha Martinez, and I work on the Digital Crisis Services team here at The Trevor Project. Every day, I connect counselors with young people seeking an empathetic ear in a nonjudgmental space, and your support makes my work possible.

Our three crisis services allow LGBTQ young people to reach us whenever and wherever they are, 24/7:

• TrevorLifeline: The only national 24/7 crisis intervention and suicide prevention lifeline for LGBTQ young people.
• TrevorChat: A free, confidential, secure instant messaging service for LGBTQ youth that provides live help from trained volunteer counselors.
• TrevorText: A free, confidential, secure service in which LGBTQ young people can text a trained Trevor counselor for support and crisis intervention.

My team leads connections through TrevorChat and TrevorText. My job is to look for moments that might change the direction of a conversation — or of a life. And I help Trevor counselors to partner with youth in those moments.

Our goal is to ensure LGBTQ young people are heard and supported. When a person is in need, it can make all the difference just to have a genuine, affirming conversation. But, all too often, the young people who reach out to us have very limited support systems — and sometimes none at all. It is our place to listen to them and to remind them that, with us, they are never alone.

I’m so grateful for my journey at The Trevor Project. I started as a Digital Crisis Worker and now I am a Crisis Services Digital Supervisor. Both roles are gifted with a direct view of the effects that our efforts have on our youth, and these services are possible because of you.
