Even before the pandemic, children in Syria were in an uphill battle to survive. Syrian children wake up every morning to the wreckage and fear caused by ongoing conflict. Their entire generation has little memory of peace and lives in a world filled with conflict. Their homes and schools have been destroyed. Access to essential services have been limited. Their childhoods have been all but taken from them. |
UNICEF has been on the ground in places like Syria doing everything possible to protect children and invest in their lives. Last year alone, UNICEF immunized 900,000 Syrian children against measles, reached 400,000 children with emotional support services and gave 3.7 million children access to education. Our work has never been more necessary as COVID-19 continues to impact vulnerable children and put them in danger.
