That's why I've submitted a debate question about democracy. So far, the candidates have not been asked about gerrymandering, redistricting, or voting rights. And regardless of who takes office in 2021, the redistricting process will impact the next decade of progressive policy-making.

You know how important fair districts are -- that's why you're part of this movement. The candidates know too -- they all signed the National Democratic Redistricting Committee's Fair Districts Pledge saying as much. It's obvious to us that we cannot go another debate without addressing voting rights and the institutional barriers that disenfranchise communities -- especially when the debate is happening in a state that just purged more than 182,000 people from its voter registration rolls.
For too long, partisan gerrymandering has been used as a tool to manipulate electoral districts to benefit political parties instead of the voters. We need to have a frank conversation about how candidates plan to address challenges facing our democracy like gerrymandering.
