Dear John,
We are witnessing profound transitions in American politics. Frustration and fatigue are running high, but it’s important to recognize and acknowledge progress where we see it. It reveals itself, among other places, in the establishment’s palpable fear.
In 2020, we became the first campaign to ever force policy concessions from Nancy Pelosi, which we did six different times on issues including labor rights, policing, funding the U.S. Postal Service, stopping a war on Iran and holding a criminal president accountable.
Meanwhile, our allies Jamaal Bowman and Cori Bush replaced long serving democratic incumbents, including in the congressional district where I grew up and graduated from high school.
Can you join the Squad to get them some back up in Congress, and remove the principal impediment to their vision?
Recognizing that its days are numbered, the Democratic corporate establishment is striking back.
On Saturday, NBC News reported the creation of a new Political Action Committee, Team Blue, dedicated to insulating career Democrats from accountability at the hands of voters seeking new voices poised to make better choices.
We discovered last year that running against Pelosi forces us to run against an entire establishment, including an array of operatives and aspirants who surround her. This new PAC represents another institutional brick in the wall of the past.
Your support is needed by Wednesday to help us break that wall and usher in a brighter future.
Corporate Democrats like Nancy Pelosi rely on PACs to put them in a position to ignore the will of the voters, and the needs of our district. They embody the corporate corruption of our democracy, and we’re not about to shrink on the challenge they present.
We’ve taken a pledge not to except support from corporate PACs—and none with any sense would support us, anyway. That’s because we’ve chosen instead to stand with you, and working Americans struggling to get by under a system that cares more about profit than people.
With three days left until the end of the quarter, can we count on your help as we prepare to finish what we started together last year?
Solidarity,
Shahid
