Happy #NationalComingOutDay!

As a member of the LGBTQ community, it's been incredibly rewarding to work for a leader who unabashedly stands up for everyone.

Julián Castro has a long-standing track record our LGBTQ+ family.

→ In 2009, Julián was the first San Antonio mayor to serve as grand marshal for the city's the Pride Parade.

→ As mayor of San Antonio, he championed the Non-Discrimination Ordinance, banning discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity in public accommodations, housing and city employment.

→ As Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, Julián issued a groundbreaking rule ensuring the LGBTQ+ community had equal access to housing services.

And when critics said to leave the trans community out of these policies, Julián refused.

As a candidate for president, Julián has continued to lift up and fight for LGBTQ+ equality. >> [link removed]

→ He was the first candidate to address trans rights in terms of reproductive justice. >> [link removed]

→ Just this week, Julián traveled to Matamoros, Mexico to escort LGBTQ+ migrants who have been persecuted across the border to get asylum. >> [link removed]

→ Yesterday, our campaign was the first to launch a #ChildrenFirst Foster Care plan, highlighting the issues LGBTQ+ youth face in finding a home, and the executive action Julián will take to eliminate discriminatory rules that prevent LGBTQ+ families from fostering or adopting. >> [link removed]

→ And last night at the HRC / CNN Equality Town Hall - wearing a ribbon honoring the 49 lives lost at the Pulse nightclub shooting - Julián stood up for sweeping LGBTQ+ equality, including a commitment to make foreign aid contingent upon human rights for the LGTBQ community in other countries of the world. >> [link removed]

In June, we marched together in the San Antonio Pride Parade. For each float the crowd would enthusiastically cheer, but when the Secretary came into view, they were electric.

When your community supports you, you know it. When your community doesn't, you know it too. It was clear from their passion that this community once led by Mayor Julián Castro knew they had his support.

Today, on #NationalComingOutDay, our team wants you to know that his support and that of everyone on Team Julián will continue to be unwavering.

We hope you can find the strength, love and acceptance that allows you to live your very best life.
