John, I do my best not to email you on Sundays, but we have an important fundraising deadline coming up next week so this really can’t wait. 

I’m sure you’re hearing from lots of candidates and campaigns about the June 30 deadline, but I’d like to take a moment to explain what that deadline means and why it’s so critical.

Democrats are currently holding onto the House majority by only a handful of seats, and it is anticipated that Republican gerrymandering in the upcoming redistricting process will further impact that razor-thin margin.  Republican strategists and operatives know they have a real chance to take back the House next year and are currently researching Democratic incumbents to see who might be vulnerable to a Republican challenger.

While we can’t control who they will target, we can build a preemptive defense by posting strong fundraising numbers.

We’ve been working hard since January, and, thanks to you, are off to a solid start.  But we can’t let our momentum slide now and leave the door wide open for a Republican challenger.

We need to do all we can to retain the House majority, and that means posting strong numbers once again.
