Dear Friend,
Happy Pride and GiveOUT Week! Let me tell you why I’m proud.
I’m now living freely as a gay man, which was unthinkable in Jamaica. I’m turning my professional ballet dreams into reality. And I’m proudly supporting Immigration Equality, the organization that helped me win asylum, safety, and dignity in the United States.
My goal is to raise $5,000 by Wednesday (GiveOUT Day, the biggest fundraising day for LGBTQ non-profits) to support Immigration Equality’s life-saving work. Please enter $100 as your donation amount today to help more people like me win asylum. If just 25 people donate $100, we’re already halfway to $5,000!

In my home country of Jamaica. I battled every day to maintain my safety and dignity. I've always been effeminate, and I knew from a young age that my love and aptitude for the performing arts was going to make things difficult for me. I was forced to flee after suffering from persecution.
I traveled to Los Angeles to represent Jamaica in the performing arts, and I knew that for me, this had to be a one-way trip. My transition to life in the United States wasn't easy, but it was made possible by Immigration Equality and other amazing organizations.
I’m grateful for what asylum enabled me to accomplish. I have been part of the Garth Fagan Dance Company, touring nationally and internationally. I am a two time overall division winner of the World Championships of the Performing Arts. I also graduated from Hunter College with a B.A in Fine Arts and from the renowned Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre.
Today, I'm asking you to GiveOUT by entering $100 as your donation amount so other immigrants like me have chance to live free and achieve the great heights I know we are all capable of.

I consider myself fortunate for having the chance to work with so many people who made my success possible. Immigration Equality's staff was consistent and dedicated. I've never encountered a group of people so caring and thoughtful.
Please help me raise $5,000 this week for Immigration Equality—to thank them for the support they've given me and to help them serve others: https://tinyurl.com/IEPride2021
Thank you,
