Today, I'm asking you to split a $3 donation between my friend Rep. Lucy McBath's and my campaigns.

Lucy and I made history as two Black leaders who flipped red seats in Georgia. We ran because we knew that our state deserved better than race-baiting, bottom-of-the-barrel politics.

And we're both facing extremely tough re-elections. The GOP has proved they will spend and say whatever it takes to try to defeat us because the path to the Senate and House majorities runs through Georgia.

So I have to ask. Can Lucy and I count on you to split a $3 donation to power us to victory? We have a very important FEC deadline coming up on Wednesday, and we need to demonstrate that our grassroots movement in Georgia is stronger than ever.

The fight for justice is long, and it requires the work and courage of people who won't quit when the going gets tough.

Lucy and I both grew up steeped in the traditions of faith and a legacy of fighting for civil rights. After her son Jordan was murdered, she channeled her immense pain into purpose. She forgave his killer and was called back to activism.

Now we're fighting in Congress to protect our sacred voting rights, take action on gun safety reform, expand affordable health care and advance the cause of justice.

But there's a problem: Democrats are hanging on to razor-thin majorities in the House and the Senate, and Lucy and I are both up for re-election next year.

Time is truly of the essence, FirstName/friend. Republicans are launching an all-out assault on everything from voting rights to health care in Georgia and across the nation — and they'll spend millions to try and defeat Lucy and me.
