John,
We're nearly halfway through 2021, and a lot is going on right now. Here's where we stand and why your grassroots contribution today is so important:
The good news: Working Families Party candidates have racked up some important wins at the local level in recent weeks. From India Walton's upset victory in the race for Buffalo mayor to multiple City Council victories in New York and Texas, and beating back "tough on crime" candidates with Larry Krasner in Philly and Melanie Stansbury in New Mexico, voters continue to make it clear that they want elected officials who are committed to fighting for working people.
The other good news: Following a surge of grassroots donations, we're standing up campaigns in Arizona and West Virginia to push Senators Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema to work with their colleagues to eliminate the filibuster and deliver on the meaningful change that Democrats promised the American people. We have helped win commitments from leaders like Chuck Schumer to pass a full jobs and care and climate agenda. And we'll continue to keep the pressure on lawmakers nationwide, no matter their party, to stand with working people and get us out of the overlapping crises we’re still living through.
The not-as-great news: While our movement keeps on growing, our fundraising for the quarter is still lagging a bit behind. That's not a total surprise — it is a challenge we often face in what some might call "off-years" between midterm and presidential election years. But if 2021 has taught us anything, it’s that there is no such thing as an "off year." What we are able to accomplish over the next few weeks and months will have an impact on the lives of hundreds of millions for generations to come.
This moment — just three days from a critical FEC deadline — is a chance to show how formidable our grassroots movement is, and make sure we can throw down for all the fights ahead. If you haven't yet, can you make an end-of-quarter contribution of $3 or more today to help us hit our $195,000 goal?

We are proving over and over that when working people come together across our differences, we can transform our political system. And it's grassroots donations from people like you — not corporate donors — reading emails *like this one* that make this work possible. Thank you for your support.
In solidarity,
Team WFP
