Hi John, Throughout June and July, Europe’s leading football (or soccer) talent are competing in the European Championship 2020 tournament ⚽️ A 12-month postponement resulted in the games finally kicking off on 11 June. After an action packed group stage, the final 16 teams are through to the knockouts. While we've been cheering on our players, we've also been providing our own analysis on participating countries — but we're scoring their performance off the pitch as global leaders in the fight against COVID-19 and extreme poverty. Our G7 post match coverage shows a disappointing first half from leaders hogging the ball on global vaccine access. And while Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 109th international goal, and became joint top scorer in the history of men’s international football, the stats on European leaders are pretty underwhelming. One teacher's mission to give back to his communityIn the lead up to the Global Education Summit in July, ONE supporters and activists are campaigning for quality education for every child, because not all classrooms are created equal. And Mamadou Diakhaté, a teacher from Senegal, is working to change that. A project that began as cleaning up classrooms while students were at home during COVID-19 lockdowns transformed into a global effort to renovate and improve classrooms across the country. “I’m trying to give back to the country that gave me so much,” Mamadou said.
