Friends –

Today marks SIX years of the freedom to marry for all same-sex couples in the United States, following the U.S. Supreme Court's decision in Obergefell v. Hodges in 2015. In those six years since, our team at the Campaign for Southern Equality has:

  • Celebrated the joy of couples being able to marry (and legally adopt in all 50 states, after our lawsuit took down Mississippi's anti-LGBTQ adoption ban),
  • Pushed back on anti-LGBTQ laws like HB2 in North Carolina, HB1523 in Mississippi, and an exclusionary school curriculum law in South Carolina,
  • Worked in coalition to defeat anti-transgender legislation like a discriminatory student athletics ban in South Carolina,
  • Trained thousands of Southerners (including medical providers, educators, and businesses) on best practices for treating LGBTQ people with dignity and respect,
  • Honored the impact and inspiration of LGBTQ Southern artists through our Southern Equality Studios program,
  • And distributed hundreds of thousands of dollars in emergency assistance support and grassroots organizing grants to LGBTQ people in the South, through our Southern Equality Fund.

The need for our work has surged in recent years, and we've been able to push forward because of supporters like you. Can you chip in $60, $6, or whatever you can to mark the SIXTH anniversary of marriage equality and all the work we've helped to lead since? Click here to donate.

Right now we're less than $3,000 away from hitting our $10,000 fundraising goal for Pride Month, which will support our Southern Equality Fund and make a direct impact on LGBTQ Southerners. Every dollar given before June will be automatically doubled, thanks to a generous donor. Click here to learn more and give.

Thank you,
