John,
Our nation was rocked when we witnessed the violent insurrection at our nation's Capitol on January 6th. Make no mistake, this was a direct attempt to overturn the will of the voters and undermine democracy by far-right extremists. (That it took place on my birthday only made me angrier!)
While it may have been previously tempting to dismiss these actors as fringe groups, we must seriously reckon with the fact that they have worked their way into positions of power and leadership across the country -- even in the halls of Congress.
Rather than rising above the xenophobia and hate these groups celebrate, Republican leaders continue to elevate and give a platform to the worst of the voices like Marjorie Taylor Greene.
She has done everything in her power to sow division by spreading baseless election fraud claims, bullying the transgender child of a fellow Congresswoman, verbally harassing her colleagues, and, in essence, starting a white supremacist caucus.
This person is dangerous. She chooses hate and division at every turn. And the scariest part? Republicans have done next to nothing to silence her.
That's why I'm doing everything I can to work with Democrats in leadership and other state Attorneys General across the country (as well as across the aisle with Republicans who don’t like the direction their party is headed) to combat the destructive ideals of far-right extremists like Marjorie Taylor Greene.
I will continue to dedicate myself to pursuing equality and justice for all, but my success is tied to support from people like you who share these goals.
