Let’s call the filibuster for what it is: A veto power for Mitch McConnell on popular policies that the majority of Americans support. A veto to the gun industry. A veto to the oil industry. For generations, racist senators took advantage of the filibuster to block anti-lynching laws and civil rights bills.

And it's still blocking progress today. Democrats ran head-first into a Republican filibuster this last week when the Senate GOP blocked the For the People Act.
