Hello John,
I was born in Los Pinos, a small village in the Mexican state of Durango. As an immigrant and as a member of Congress representing a community that is over one-third foreign born, I am deeply committed to fighting with progressives like Bernie Sanders to create a fair immigration system and make sure we have a path to citizenship for immigrant youth and their families.

That's why I am leading the fight to decriminalize immigration. Family separation, immigrant detention, and border militarization all stem from the racist idea that immigration is a crime. No one should be criminalized for seeking a better future.
