Folks,
Senate Republicans just used the Jim Crow filibuster to block the For the People Act. Disgraceful, I know.
As long as I’m in Congress, I won’t stop fighting for the reforms we need to get dark money out of politics and restore the promise of our nation’s democracy -- but until we’ve made it happen, our people-powered team has got to deal with the reality of a campaign finance system ruled by Citizens United.
We need to raise millions of dollars to defend this battleground seat against outside spending and the GOP’s fundraising machine.
But Rome wasn’t built in a day, so we’re starting with raising the $9,030 we need to hit our end-of-quarter fundraising goal -- chip in to help us reach this critical benchmark before our FEC deadline hits in 4 days!
It would make my Campaign Manager Don’s life a whole lot easier if I sold out my values to ensure a steady stream of cash from special interests to boost my campaign.
But unfortunately for Don, that ship sailed pretty much as soon as I got my office set up. From day one, I’ve been working to hold gas and oil industry giants accountable and just helped pass legislation to force big corporations to own up for their contributions to the climate crisis -- I’m not exactly their favorite guy.
So with corporations being able to spend unlimited amounts of money to sway elections in favor of their desired candidates, not knowing who my GOP opponent is yet is honestly the least of my worries.
But luckily, I’ve got folks like you in my corner who are just as committed as I am to the fight to save our democracy and the whole damn planet. Can I count on you to chip in $25 or more to make sure we have the resources to hold this seat so we can keep making the big guys mad?
Thank you,
Sean Casten
