Chairman's Update
This is a weekly update from the Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman
Lawrence Tabas filling you in on what our statewide party leaders are up to,
along with relevant news pertaining to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
June 26, 2021
Chairman's Message
Fellow Pennsylvanians,
This week, Republicans in the U.S. Senate stood united and successfully
blocked the Democrats’ radical plan to federalize control over our elections.
The Left’s bill (S. 1) would have greatly weakened our nation’s election
security by overturning voter ID laws in every state, mandating the extension
of early voting, creating online automatic voter registration, and giving
Biden’s FEC and IRS the power to target conservatives. This narrow victory
underscores just how important our state’s open senate race truly is -- if a
radical candidate like John Fetterman is elected and Democrats take full
control of the Senate, they will be able to abolish the filibuster and pass
radical, partisan legislation like S.1.That’s why at the PA GOP, we’re working
overtime to make sure our conservative candidates have the resources they need
to take on the Left’s millions and WIN our most critical races.
Sincerely,
Lawrence J. Tabas
Chairman, Republican Party of Pennsylvania

Republicans block 'rotten' election reform bill in Senate as VP Harris
presides over debate
June 22, 2021 | Fox News
50 Republicans united in the Senate to block the Democrats’ “For the People
Act”. This partisan legislation would have federalized control over elections,
dramatically weakened election security, and, according to Senate leader Mitch
McConnell, rigged elections in favor of the Democrats. The bill was one of the
Democrats’ biggest legislative priorities, and its defeat is a significant blow
to their radical agenda.

A new poll by Franklin and Marshall College revealed that Tom Wolf’s approval
rating has plunged to just 39% after his disastrous response to the COVID-19

for voting, and 81% support signature matching for mail ballots.

GOP Voting Law Bill Clears Pa. House Amid Wolf Veto Threat
June 23, 2021 | NBC 10 Philadelphia
Pennsylvania Republicans’ proposal to reform the state’s election laws has
passed the PA House, and now moves to the Senate for consideration. The new
bill secures Pennsylvania’s elections by implementing voter ID, establishing
in-person early voting, and expanding the amount of time counties have to count
mail-in ballots. Despite evidence that a majority of Pennsylvanians support
election reform efforts, Governor Wolf has vowed to veto the legislation.

Slate Belt officer joins end-of-year softball picnic
June 23, 2021 | WFMZ 69 News
A good deed turned into a fun surprise in Northampton County, Pennsylvania
after the head coach of the Pen Argyl Pink Knights -- a pre-k through first
grade softball team -- invited some of his first responder colleagues to grab
some leftover pizza from the team’s end of year picnic. One of the officers,
Rolyn Santiago with Slate Belt Regional police, stayed and played softball with
the girls, helping them with their batting stances and proper swing techniques
and creating lasting memories. The girls have invited their new friend to their
next softball game.
