At the beginning of Biden's presidency, he issued an executive order halting all new oil and gas leases on federal lands, pending a top-to-bottom review at the Interior Department, led by Deb Haaland.

And that's huge — fossil fuel extraction on public lands generates a QUARTER of America's greenhouse gas emissions. The problem is that the halt had always been temporary, and the fossil fuel industry has been running well-funded PR and lobbying efforts ever since.

Their goals: Plant a narrative that this hurts job growth. Pressure lawmakers in states with significant oil and gas operations to oppose Biden's order. Restart leasing across our public lands ASAP.
