Court Blocks DHS’s Public Charge Rule Campaign Call at 4:30 PM ET
Dear Allies,
The day has finally come when we can celebrate our tireless work together!
A federal court has blocked implementation of DHS’s public charge regulation. The order, issued by the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York in State of New York v. Department of Homeland Security and Make the Road New York v. Cuccinelli, blocks the regulation from taking effect on October 15 and for the foreseeable future while this lawsuit is decided.
This victory would not be possible without your efforts.
The Judge ruled that the plaintiffs made compelling arguments regarding their likelihood of success on their Administrative Procedure Act and Constitutional arguments, that the regulation may violate the Rehabilitation Act, and that irreparable harm would be suffered immediately if rule goes into effect. What this means is that your comments opposing the DHS rule were a huge part of this victory.
Please join us for an all-campaign call tonight at 4:30 PM ET/ 1:30 PM PT.
After the call, we encourage you to celebrate and share celebratory photos on social at #protectfamilies.
We’ll be updating our materials in the coming days to reflect today’s decision.
What a great day to stand together!
