Big NEWS, John, President Biden just announced a BOLD, comprehensive plan to tackle gun violence in America — Too often, efforts to prevent gun violence focus solely on the perpetrators of violence. But to stop the flow of crime guns, we need to go to the source: the suppliers. President Biden’s plan will achieve exactly that by holding reckless gun dealers accountable for supplying firearms that fuel the gun violence epidemic, or what we at Brady call a “supply-side approach.”
Unfortunately, amid this positive news, the NRA and its allies are continuing to do everything in their power to oppose President Biden’s common-sense solutions. And so we need your help to take immediate action.
Right now, the NRA is flooding the government website with feedback opposing President Biden’s proposed rule to regulate “ghost guns.” Pro-gun advocates have already unleashed tens of thousands of comments against regulating ghost guns, which are currently completely unregulated and untraceable. It is urgent that we show strong support for President Biden and the DOJ's rule to regulate these deadly weapons. Will you visit our website to learn how you can submit a comment now?
Follow our short instructions to submit a comment through the government website We must act swiftly to support President Biden’s plan. The federal government is accepting public comments through August 19. We need to drive as many supportive comments as possible, especially with the NRA and its allies working against us. Please, John, can you take a moment to submit a comment now?

June is Gun Violence Awareness Month — Help Us Honor With Action! This week, we’re featuring Liz Dunning, a gun violence survivor and Brady’s vice president of Development. In 2003, her mom, Nancy Dunning, was murdered while opening her front door in Alexandria, Virginia. Liz with her mom, Nancy. On her mom’s birthday years later, Liz commemorated Nancy’s memory with something that they both loved that took grit, sacrifice, and determination: a 26-mile marathon to celebrate the 26 years of life they shared together. Liz’s mom loved supporting her marathons, chanting “Run Lizzie Run” to keep her going. That day, Liz raised nearly $30,000 in her mother’s name for Brady. In 2017, we honored Liz at the Brady Action Awards for her marathon and tireless dedication to gun violence prevention. (Watch her full speech here). A few marathons later (two, but who’s counting!) Liz made a major life pivot to dedicate her career to gun violence prevention and joined the Brady staff. Since then, Liz has guided our organization in centering and uplifting the voices and stories of fellow gun violence victims and survivors.
Thank you, Liz, for everything you do for Brady and the movement. You can always count on us to cheer you on in our collective fight to end gun violence and save lives!

Brady's Donor of the Week: Gary Sackett A strong advocate and supporter of Brady and the gun violence prevention movement for nearly 40 years, Gary Sackett is filled with passion, knowledge, and conviction.
Gary’s relationship with Brady began in the early 1980s, when we were called Handgun Control Inc. Before the Brady Bill was signed into law, he met with then-Brady Chairman Pete Shields to discuss the fight to pass it. Shortly after, Gary continued his advocacy with Brady, becoming an unofficial spokesman for Brady in Utah, where, at the time, there were few residents willing to speak publicly for gun violence prevention. Gary also helped form Utahns Against Gun Violence with Ron and Norma Molen, who lost their son to firearm homicide at Indiana University in 1992. He continues to serve on the board of its successor organization, the Gun Violence Prevention Center of Utah.
Thank you, Gary, for your tireless support of Brady and the movement to prevent gun violence. Our work is made possible by dedicated grassroots supporters like yourself! If you haven’t yet watched Change the Ref’s new video, please take a moment to do so now — we promise you won’t regret it. This bold video honors the 3,044 students of the Class of 2021 who were killed by gun violence. But there’s a clever, surprise catch along the way, and you have to watch it.
Founders of Change the Ref, Manuel (Manny) Oliver and Patricia Padauy-Oliver, lost their son, Joaquin, in the school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. They founded Change the Ref to provide a platform to support young people who are trying to make their voice heard in the fight against gun violence. In this video campaign, they've given a voice back to the young people whose voices we've lost.
