Bad news, John:
Yesterday, news broke that the Biden administration urged a court to throw out a challenge brought by Indigenous and environmental activists against the Line 3 tar sands pipeline.[1]
This is unacceptable. How can President Biden claim to be serious about climate change, while defending a Trump-era decision that violates Indigenous rights and poses a massive threat to our climate?
We can't let Biden defend the indefensible. That's why, on Wednesday, June 30, we're showing up in DC in support of Indigenous leaders to demand that he change his decision on Line 3 and stand up for Indigenous rights and our collective future. Join us.

Climate promises mean nothing without climate action. And lately, Biden's actions are saying A LOT about what he is really willing to do to stop the worst impacts of climate change. From prioritizing weak compromises over bold climate action in his recent infrastructure bill, to a White House meeting with Big Oil executives and defending this detrimental pipeline,[2,3] it is clear that he is not taking the necessary actions to meet the scale of the climate crisis. And this is all happening while large portions of the country are suffering a record-breaking climate-induced heat wave and wildfires.[4] Mind boggling.
We must demand action — not just words — from President Biden, and make sure that he delivers on his climate promises. Please join us in DC on Wednesday, June 30, and demand that he stop the Line 3 pipeline. The more people who show up, the better our chances are of stopping this huge affront to tribal rights, environmental justice, and climate concerns.

The good news is that we know we can win this fight. How do we know? Because we've done it before. Earlier this month, the Keystone XL pipeline project was officially terminated, after a decade of organizing, protesting and advocating by Indigenous leaders, environmental advocates, and our incredible climate movement. And we can do it again.
Let's win this fight, together.
Onwards,
Emily Southard
