Hi John, we hope you’re enjoying the start of summer!
The end of the fundraising quarter is in just a few days, so our team has been working around the clock to ensure that Jared puts forward the strongest finance report possible (if you want to help us reach our fundraising goal, you can chip in here: [link removed])
Jared’s top priority in Congress is delivering results for the people of Maine’s Second District. So today, we wanted to take a break from the fundraising asks to give you an update on just some of what Jared has been up to since our last newsletter.
INFRASTRUCTURE:
Jared joined a bipartisan group of his colleagues to unveil a $1.25 trillion infrastructure spending proposal. This landmark infrastructure proposal -- the largest in decades -- would provide the framework for highways, roads, bridges, broadband expansion, freight and passenger rail, clean energy, and more.

HONORING VETERANS:
For Jared, honoring our veterans is personal. That’s why this month, he was invited to testify before the Senate National Parks subcommittee to make the case for a Global War on Terrorism Memorial on the National Mall. This memorial would honor the 7,000 men and women who have died serving our country since 9/11, and provide their families and loved ones a place for reflection and healing.

SUPPORTING MAINE FISHERMEN:
After hearing from local fishermen in Maine’s Second District, Jared pressed the CDC and Coast Guard to end the unnecessary masking enforcement for commercial fishing vessels. The Coast Guard has now updated its guidance so they no longer stop Maine fishermen for violating mask requirements intended for ferries and cruise lines.
THE GREAT AMERICAN OUTDOORS ACT:
Last year, Jared helped introduce the Great American Outdoors Act (GAOA) and worked to pass it into law. Now, $16 million is coming to Maine to improve and maintain working forests and public lands near Perham Stream, around Bethel, and in the Acadia National Park. Last weekend, Rep. Golden joined Secretary Deb Haaland on her trip to Acadia National Park -- her first visit to Maine and first visit to a national park as Secretary of the Interior -- to discuss the planned park investments stemming from the passage of the GAOA.

2002 AUTHORIZATION FOR USE OF MILITARY FORCE (AUMF):
For far too long, presidents of both parties have sent young Americans overseas with no oversight or accountability to the public. Earlier this year, Jared was part of a bipartisan group that introduced legislation to repeal Authorization of the Use of Military Forces (AUMFs) from 1957, 1991, and 2002, which would increase congressional authority over war powers. This month, the House of Representatives finally voted to pass a repeal of the 2002 AUMF that provided justification for the Iraq War, and it is slated to take up legislation to repeal the older AUMFs next week.
Thank you so much for being on our team -- we know that none of this would have been possible without your continued support.
Sincerely,
Team Golden
P.S. The GOP establishment has listed Jared as a top target next year, and ads attacking Jared’s record are already up on TV in Maine. We can’t let them undo all the progress he’s made, so if you can, will you chip in $5 or more before our FEC deadline at the end of the month to help Jared continue this important work on behalf of ME-02 in Congress?
