Hey there, in case you missed it:
Florida Sen. Marco Rubio has been lying low since the January 6 insurrection, hoping Democrats will forget he's up for reelection -- but we're not going to give him that luxury.
On February 13, a little over a month after a violent mob of white supremacists stormed the Capitol, Rubio voted to protect Donald Trump. Then, a few months later, he blocked a January 6 commission aimed at preventing further political violence.
But that's just the peak of Rubio's record. While Rubio has spent plenty of time pushing tax cuts for corporations, most of his efforts have gone into trying to repeal the Affordable Care Act, delaying the American Rescue Plan, and cozying up to the NRA.
That's why we're so excited about former impeachment manager Val Demings, team -- because we know she can take Rubio's seat and expand our majority this cycle.
Demings made history as the first Black woman to serve as chief of police in Orlando, FL. She then went on to win three congressional races and be included in Biden's VP short-list. She's exactly the type of person who can stand against a powerful incumbent like Rubio.
But CNN is projecting this will be “one of the most expensive U.S. Senate races in history” -- and Rubio already has the advantage. If we don't start catching up soon, Democrats will never be able to flip Florida.
